Day 7 - Hualien

We set off to hualien pretty late from taitung. Reached at around 5 pm.
All we did that night was to walk to the hostel, and went out to the 'night market' for some food. The place we went to was not really a night market, but streets with a lot of vendors selling food.

The walk to the hostel (sleeping boot) was rather near, however we were lost and spent a long time searching for it. Sleeping boot is situated very near a local temple and a army hospital. When u saw these landmarks, u are very near the hostel.

Hualien train station

Looking out from the train station. Sleeping boot hostel is at the left side, walk straight in.

When we reached the hostel, our host recommended us with the places/ food we should try in hualien.

The NTD5 bun! This bun is called 小笼包, but it looks like nothing compared with the
小笼包 in singapore.
肉丸汤and 酸辣汤。  Though we tried many diff 酸辣汤,but all tasted not good. And still, the 肉丸汤at  逢甲夜市 tasted better.

The 小笼包 is super delicious and worth the money! It taster even better with the sauce provided.

After filling our stomach with 10 bun, 2 bowls of soup and 1 suan la tang, we proceeded to find the native taiwanese street. At that place, many of native taiwanese's products were sold, there are also performances put up by the native taiwanese .

On the way to search for the street.

Here it is!
We took a picture with the performers ~ Though it was very cold that night, they were wearing very little.

After the performances, we went to a small shop and eat the 俄阿煎。 Tasted good :D We also ate the dessert and a 贡丸 from the shop beside of the 俄阿煎shop, which the 贡丸 tasted very bad。
俄阿煎shop

the dessert shop, just beside it was the 贡丸shop.

the dismay look on my friend face from eating the 贡丸。

After which when we were going back to our hostel, we came across this shop where the vendor was super friendly, and so we went in.
Exterior of the shop.  焦糖包心粉圆。
Interior of the shop. Certificates pasted all over the wall.

The friendly vendor preparing the dessert.

Our dessert. 焦糖冰。though it looks small here but it was super big. Delicious too and cheap NTD 40.

Back to Sleeping boot hostel~ Sleeping boot was also a very clean and nice hostel, they provide us with shampoo and body soap, some tea bags as well as computer access with wifi, also a television. However no laundry.

Common area
Desktops for us to use.

The place where we eat/ drink.

After a good sleep, we wake up early in the morning to go to 太魯閣。 We will need to take a bus up from a bus station near hualien train station.

We bought breakfast from a breakfast shop.

on our way! the bus departs at 8am.

On our way into 燕子口, we were too hungry and bought this 茶叶蛋。Then we noticed that the 茶叶蛋from 日月潭was really delicious, this tasted so bad that i dont feel hungry anymore after eating this.

Waiting for the bus to go back down to hualien. The bus frequency was very little too. And it is actually better if we book a cab with more ppl. We spent ~SGD 20 to go up, visited 2 places, and go down again.

It was really boring for us in taroko, we force ourselves to walk longer as we felt that we will be wasting our money if we dont cover more places. However after only covering 2 places, we gave out (our initial plan was 5 locations). And so we went down and have a nice mac meal at hua lien  ~ :D

Mac lunch~ The price slightly cheaper compared to singapore.

Followed by cakess! :D The cakes there were cheap, SGD~2+.

This bear bear cake is so cute!
YAY at our hostel!

We say bye bye to our wonderful host and we proceeded to our final stop TAIPEI!! YAYYY. From then on, we no longer need to rush for train every morning! HAPPY, finally can sleep more XDD
